Sid Thakur is a visual artist who explores the fragile art of cutting and carving paper by hand, mainly using scissors and knife.
Largely self-taught through observation, experimentation, and a steady hand, prominent themes of Sid’s cut paper artwork include abstract and geometric patterns, cultural motifs and symbols inspired by rich mythologies from India, his country of origin.
Sid’s artworks have strong undercurrents of symmetry, reflection, and reinforcement of patterns through repetition. Sid has showcased his artwork at a number of public events and has won at a juried public art show.
