Join us for the Introductory Paper-Cutting Workshop, where you’ll learn to create novel, intricate patterns by cutting paper with scissors. Ideal for ages 7 and up. All materials provided.

Paper cutting is a fun, easy-to-learn medium that provides limitless opportunities to explore creativity through the exploration of symmetry, geometry, and the interplay of patterns and negative space!

What You’ll Learn

– Creating novel patterns through fold-and-cut technique
– Concepts of symmetry, geometry, and use of negative space
– Exploring different ways of folding paper to achieve stunning patterns

Sid Thakur is a self-taught, award-winning paper-cutting artist who creates unique, hand-made art by cutting and carving paper using scissors and craft knives. He has exhibited and given demos at local galleries, regional libraries, and during cultural events. Sid is a computer scientist by profession and lives in Cary, NC. He loves teaching and volunteering in community events and local sporting leagues. Sid leads the Community of Indian American Visual Artists in the Triangle area (CIVA).
